Obsessive Compulsive Disorders
(OCD)
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a disorder characterized by obsessions and compulsions that are driven by anxiety.
Obsessions are unwanted and involuntary thoughts that may replay continuously in our minds. The obsessions can come in many shapes and forms including intrusive images.
Often obsessions cause anxiety as they are often considered to be inappropriate and shameful to the person experiencing them.
Common obsessional themes include fear of germs and contamination, continuously doubting ones self, need for symmetry, thoughts of losing control and harming others, and unwanted sexually inappropriate thoughts.

In order to relieve the anxiety from the unwanted and intrusive thoughts, a compulsion is performed.
Compulsions may include handwashing as a result of touching a dirty surface, repetitive counting, restarting a task until it is perfect, and organizing objects based on symmetry and color.
At Mind Glow Solutions, our providers have experience in treating OCD using medications and behavioral techniques aimed at reducing unwanted and intrusive thoughts.
