Eating Disorders

Disorders of eating and appetite are characterized by a persistent disturbance in eating behaviors that are accompanied by highly distressing thoughts and emotions.

Anorexia Nervosa

Individuals with Anorexia often have a fear of gaining weight. As a result, they may engage in behaviors such as restricting caloric intake by dieting, vomiting after eating, and excessively exercising to burn off calories.

These behaviors result in low body max index and weight. More importantly, if not treated it can cause serious medical conditions including low blood pressure, low heart rate, and fatal cardiac arrhythmias that can lead to death.

Our providers are trained to assess for disordered eating behaviors and make appropriate treatment recommendations.

Our providers work collaboratively with specialists (nutritionists and primary care providers) to utilize pharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions to promote weight restoration.

Bulimia Nervosa:

Involves moments of uncontrollable periods of eating a high amount of calories and overeating known as binging.

Immediately after consumption, overwhelming feelings of guilt and regret surface directing to compensatory behaviors including vomiting, the use of laxatives, and exercising excessively to prevent weight gain.

Individuals with Bulimia can be classified as either normal weight or overweight.

Our providers use a combination of treatment strategies such as medication management, psychotherapy, and collaboration with specialists.

Binge Eating Disorder:

Binge Eating Disorder is characterized by periods of uncontrollable eating known as binges. During this period, individuals may feel a sense of lack of control over being able to stop eating for a short period of time.

Oftentimes, individuals may experience feelings of guilt and shame. Individuals may find themselves eating in secret or hiding evidence of having been eating from others.

At Mind Glow Solutions, our clinicians are trained to help you cope through binge eating episodes, discuss your relationship with food, and provide both pharmacological and psychotherapy to address binging.

Utilizing psychoeducation, counseling, and/or medication management our providers will fully optimize your treatment.
